Getting started in GCity can be a bit complex for new players.
This guide will be your main tool to help you get started!

Starting Out ​

Everyone starts their journey on the server as a standard civilian. It is completely up to you on how your characters life will be. If you want you can be a normal law-abiding citizen who works hard for their legal money, or you can choose a life of crime and dip your toes into some of that sweet easy illegal money. The choice is yours!

Helpful Tips:
The main ways to level up is from playtime and crafting items.

Letting your PC AFK on the server is extremely encouraged and you get solid benefits from doing so. Not only do you get XP, but you also get rewarded 1 skill point every 2 hours your play on the server. Maxing out your skill points can really improve your gameplay dramatically.

If you are interested in getting whitelisted to the Police Department you can attend one of our daily tryouts.

To get whitelisted to one of the gangs you must reach out to the leaders of those gangs.

Available Jobs ​

Alternative to being just a normal civilian, we have a nice selection of jobs for everyone to choose from. Many of these jobs can really help you make some money and start building your reputation within the community. To become these jobs there are various employers around the map.
​

» City Worker: The city worker job is the first job that most new players will start out on to grind cash. To become a city worker you will go to the employer at City Hall. Once you've become the job you can then go to the City Worker Locker and grab your tools that you'll to complete tasks.

» Taxi Driver: As a taxi driver you get to drive a taxi around the city and charge people for rides. To become a taxi driver you will go to the employer at City Hall. Once you are a taxi driver you can go outside of city hall and spawn your taxi in. To configure your taxi settings you will go in first person and click through the computer screen.

» Tow Truck Driver: As a tow truck driver you tow peoples cars that are illegally parked or broken down. To become a tow truck driver you will go to the employer at City Hall. Once you are a tow truck driver you can go outside of city hall and spawn your tow truck in.

» Hitman: Hitmen are the dealers of death and get paid for it. To become a hitman go to the criminal hideout and talk to the employer. Once you become a hitman you can then grab your tablet from the hitman locker and begin accepting hits.

» Paramedic: Paramedics roam the city looking for anyone in critical condition that they can revive or people hurt that they can heal up for money. To become a paramedic you will go to the employer at the hospital. Once you are a paramedic you can then grab your gear from the paramedic locker, spawn in your ambulance, and get to work.

» Fire Fighter: Fire fighters roam the city looking for any out of control fires that they can extinguish for money. To become a fire fighter you will go to the employer outside of the fire department. Once you are a fire fighter you can then grab your gear from the fire fighter locker, spawn in your fire truck, and get to work.

» Mayor: As the mayor of the city you get to create new laws and revise already existing laws. To become the mayor you must win the mayoral election. To enter into the race you need to go to City Hall and speak to the mayor elections NPC. Once you officially become mayor you can then begin your duties of running the city. Once you die and lose the job, all laws that were added or revised are reset.

» [Whitelisted] Police: The police enforce the laws of the land and keep the citizens safe from criminals. To join the police you must attend one of the daily tryouts and pass to get whitelisted. Once whitelisted you can then head over to the police department and talk to the employer. Once on duty you can retrieve all your equipment from the police lockers. After that you spawn in your police vehicle and begin to carry out your duties. Refer to Police Handbook and Criminal Code for more.

» [Whitelisted] Gangs: On the server there are various whitelisted gangs for players to join. Once whitelisted, to become the gang job go to the criminal hideout and talk to the employer. Once you become the gang job you can then grab your equipment from your gang locker and begin your life of crime.

Using the Phone ​

The phone is an extremely useful tool and helps you out a lot. The apps within the phone not only let you communicate with others quickly across the map, but also can help you find your way around to key locations.

Phone Controls:
UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT Arrow Keys + ENTER and BACKSPACE + Mouse Scroll Wheel + Left and Right Click + Middle Mouse Button

Phone Apps Explained
Email: With the email app you can send custom emails to everyone in the server. Emails should be strictly business related or some type of store advertisement.

Texts: Here you can text people that you have added into your contacts. Press Middle Mouse Button when in app to select a contact.

GPS: The GPS app allows you to easily navigate the map by setting a waypoint that you can follow.

Camera: The camera is another way you can take screenshots.

Contacts: The contacts app is the main app you use to call various people. Here you can view your phone number and also see various services such as Emergency Services, Taxi Services, Towing Services, and Hitman Services. To enter someones phone number press Middle Mouse Button while in the contacts app.

Settings: In the Settings app you will see the following tabs which feature options that you can customize to your liking. (Background, Profile, Ringtone, Theme, Advanced)

Crafting Explained ​

Crafting is the main way you progress in the server. Crafting items will be your primary source of XP to level up and unlock better crafting recipes. In the server there are 4 different types of crafting benches, all having their own unique crafting recipes. Many crafting recipes include both store bought items and crafted items making the system a bit more complex.

Types of Crafting Tables
Crafting Bench: The crafting bench holds recipes for creating advanced components essential for higher-level crafting recipes.

Assembly Table: The assembly table is designed for assembling both basic and advanced components into valuable items.

Gunsmithing Table: The gunsmithing table specializes in assembling guns of various calibers.

Cooking Stove: The cooking stove is used to craft sophisticated food items that are not available for direct purchase from stores.

Buddy System Explained ​

The buddy system allows players to buddy their friends and grant them special permissions to make playing together easier. To open up the buddy menu you can either press F6, or you can hold C (or whatever 'Open Context Menu' is binded to) and press the buddy menu button. You can add buddies directly in the buddy menu.

Buddy Permissions Explained
Show Name: Grants player access to see your name.

Show Extra Info: Grants player access to see your job, playtime, and prop count in the tab menu.

Vehicle Key Access: Grants player access to unlock/lock your vehicles.

Property Key Access: Grants player access to unlock/lock your properties.

Cash Register Access: Grants player access to manage your cash register.

Dropped Item Access: Grants player access to pickup your dropped items.

Shared Props: Grants player access to physgun your spawned props.

ATM's & Item Bank Explained ​

ATM's and the item bank are essential for you to save your money and your valuable items from theft. Limiting how much money you are walking around with in your wallet can help you out in the long run and prevent people from stealing it from you. Limiting what valuable items you walk around with in your inventory and storing them in the item bank also helps keep your valuables safe from theft. If you are handcuffed or ziptied players can pat you down for any valuables you have in your inventory.

Whenever you are put in critical condition and need a medic, you automatically drop 10% of what you have in your wallet on the ground next to your body. If you aren't revived and you respawn instead, all valuable items on you will be dropped into a box where you died that anyone can take from.

Character Revival Process ​

In the event you are put into critical condition and downed, you will have a timer that you must wait before you can respawn. If a paramedic is currently on duty they will automatically be alerted of your situation and location. Once the timer is finished and allows you to respawn, respawning is still optional and you can instead wait for the paramedic so you don't lose your valuable items. If you choose to respawn, any valuable items you have on you will be dropped in a box next to where you died.

If you are ever in need of healing you can always seek out a paramedic to heal you up. To easily do this you can go to your phone contact, call emergency services, and request medical services. This will alert online paramedics of your situation.

Customizing Your Character ​

There are currently 2 ways you can customize your character. One would be by changing your player's skin completely and two is by wearing accessory items. There are 4 different shops that sells player skins, and one shop that sells accessories.
All these shops can be found at the clothing store.

Clothing Store Shops
Male Skins Shop: Sells various male player skins.

Female Skins Shop: Sells various female player skins.

Suit Skins Shop: Sells various male suit player skins.

Special Skins Shop: Sells all special and unique player skins.

Accessories Shop: Sells a variety of equipment that you can wear combined with your skin.

Buying a Vehicle ​

To buy a vehicle you can either go to the Car Dealer or the Boat Dealer. To easily find the locations of these places you can open the phone and go to the GPS app. When in the GPS app you can see all key locations in the city.

Modifying Your Car ​

To modify or repair your car that you have just purchased, you can can head over to the mechanic shop. Once at the mechanic shop you can drive your vehicle into the vehicle bay on the right side. Once inside the vehicle editor will come up. To easily find mechanic shop you can open the phone and go to the GPS app. When in the GPS app you can see all key locations in the city.

Buying a Property ​

To buy yourself a property, you can can head over to the bank and speak with Karen Smith.
You have the option to both buy and rent all properties in the map.

When buying the property is yours for the remainder of your game session. After you leave the server your property will become unowned.

When renting the property, the property is yours for as long as you rent it. For each day a property is rented in-game it is equal to 2 hours. So the max you can rent a property for is 48 hours.

To easily find the bank you can open the phone and go to the GPS app. When in the GPS app you can see all key locations in the city.

Build Mode Explained ​

Once you purchase your first property you can then enter build mode and use the legacy Q spawn menu to spawn in props and design your base. To enter build mode you need to press C (or whatever 'Open Context Menu' is binded to), and then click the build mode button.

While in build mode you can't deal any damage to other players, but players can deal damage to you. You are only meant to be in build mode briefly to setup your base and then exit back to normal mode.

Create Your Own Shop ​

To create your own shop and sell various items to other players, you will first need to have a property that is either owned or rented. Once you have obtained that then you can get a cash register and start listing items for sale. To list items for sale you drop them next to the cash register and then open the UI and switch to the listing view by clicking the gear icon in the top left. Here you can list and unlist items for sale, adjust the price, and withdraw money stored inside of the cash register.

Searching Restrained Players ​

When a player is restrained with either handcuffs or zipties, any player can then pull out their hands and search the restrained players inventory for valuable items. If the restrained player has valuable items on them they can then be patted down and confiscated/stolen. To save your items from easy theft store them in your item bank.
